What makes a feather so special? The children explored this question in a varied workshop. Together, they discovered how light and flexible—yet sturdy—feathers are, and how birds use them for flying, camouflage, and warmth. The importance of feathers for us humans was also discussed: as quills for writing, jewelry, or symbols of freedom and imagination. In the creative part of the workshop, the children were able to give free rein to their imagination: using colorful feathers, construction paper, and templates, they created imaginative works of art – from bright fantasy birds and feathered mythical creatures to delicate mobiles.
