People gathering, holding one another, resisting and bearing witness: bodies are at the center of Tirdad Hashemi’s drawings and paintings – between blossoming plants and burning cities, between vulnerability and connectedness.
The exhibition “The Slow Rhythm of Care” shows how closely personal intimacy and political struggle are intertwined.
Starting with a joint tour of the exhibition, workshop participants develop their own posters and visual ideas:
What does care mean to me? What do I stand up for – and with whom? Using photography, collage, drawing and typography, participants create images that take a stand. Together, they translate issues such as women’s rights, identity, resistance and social justice into a visual language.
The workshop will be led by Parichehr Bijani, a communication designer and photographer from Iran who has lived in Hamburg since 2015. Her work has been shown at venues including the Patriotische Gesellschaft, the HFBK (University of Fine Arts Hamburg) and the Altonaer Museum. As part of the INTRO program, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM), she spent a year leading workshops at Hajusom – Center for Transnational Arts. She has also led workshops at the Werkstatt für internationale Kultur und Politik e.V., in schools and at festivals, and she works on theater and film projects as well.
